Overview
This skill creates single-panel editorial comics that critique standardized education using dark, cerebral humor in the vein of The Far Side, Bogert Creek, and New Yorker cartoons. It generates tight comic concepts, sharp captions, and detailed image prompts ready for generation or handoff to an image tool. The goal is shareable, thought-provoking comics that make audiences feel seen and compelled to send them on.
How this skill works
I generate 5–8 one-sentence comic concepts formatted with a short scene line and a single caption or line of dialogue. After you pick a concept, I refine the frame, tighten the caption, and produce a precise image prompt in the specified visual style (simple pen-and-ink, 1:1 square, italic serif caption below). The output is optimized for handoff to an image generator and for social posting.
When to use it
- Brainstorming fresh single-panel ideas for OpenEd social media
- Writing or tightening captions that land with a dry, dark punch
- Producing clear image prompts for an illustrator or image generator
- Iterating variations on an existing comic theme
- Preparing a final concept to hand off to the nano-banana-image-generator
Best practices
- Keep each concept visual and immediate—one pivotal moment per panel
- Prefer short, deadpan captions; fewer words often land harder
- Avoid puns, swearing, political figures, and mean-spirited targets
- Focus critique on systems and institutions, not individuals
- Constrain visual elements to essentials; embrace 80% white space
Example use cases
- Generate eight new comic concepts for a weekly OpenEd post series
- Refine a chosen concept into an exact frame and micro-caption for rapid illustration
- Create an image prompt that specifies composition, characters, and the absurd detail that makes the joke land
- Brainstorm 4 caption variations to test which has the strongest shareability
- Convert a thematic idea (e.g., credentialism) into multiple single-panel scenarios
