Overview

This skill extracts compact, compelling story structures from raw source material by mapping content to universal narrative beats. It helps you turn transcripts, interviews, or notes into ready-to-use snippets for blogs, cold opens, social posts, and newsletters. The output focuses on clear setup, tension, insight, resolution, and takeaway.

How this skill works

Scan source material for transitions, contrast markers, failure admissions, and turning points to locate story seeds. Pull 3–8 sentence story units, label the six beats (Setup, Disaster, Failed Approach, New Insight, Resolution, Reflection), and reshape the arc to fit the target format. Provide concise templates for cold opens, blog intros, social posts, and newsletter sections.

When to use it

  • Transform podcast transcripts into blog introductions or standalone posts
  • Create attention-grabbing cold opens for video or audio content
  • Convert interviews and raw notes into shareable social snippets
  • Find story beats hidden in long-form content for newsletters
  • Distill counterintuitive lessons and before/after transformations

Best practices

  • Prefer complete 3–8 sentence story units that contain identifiable beats
  • Label each beat explicitly so editors can recombine pieces quickly
  • Keep emotional stakes proportional and avoid over-dramatization
  • Do not invent missing elements—note gaps and preserve authenticity
  • Tailor the arc to the format: start at disaster for cold opens, at setup for blog intros

Example use cases

  • Extract a 30-second cold open from a podcast by starting at the Disaster beat
  • Write a 150-word blog intro that compresses the full six-beat arc
  • Create a 280-character social post that highlights the Insight + Reflection
  • Turn an interview origin story into a newsletter section with first-person tone
  • Scan a transcript to build a library of reusable narrative snippets

FAQ

Label what exists (insight, failure, or reflection) and flag missing beats instead of inventing them; many formats accept shorter arcs or single insights.

How long should an extracted snippet be?

Aim for 3–8 sentences—enough context for beats to be clear but short enough to repurpose across formats.
