Aptadir Therapeutics Raises €40M Seed Round Led by 4BIO Capital
Aptadir Therapeutics Closes €40M Seed Round
Aptadir Therapeutics, a Milan-based preclinical biotech, has raised €40 million in seed funding. The round was led by 4BIO Capital.
What Aptadir Does
Aptadir Therapeutics is developing a novel class of RNA inhibitors called DNMTs Interacting RNAs (DiRs). These inhibitors are designed to block aberrant DNA methylation at the single-gene level, with the goal of reactivating genes that disease has silenced.
The company's lead candidate, CAP1-FMR1, targets Fragile X Syndrome. Additional programs are aimed at intractable cancers such as myelodysplastic syndromes.
Origins and Research Base
Aptadir was spun out in 2024 through EXTEND, Italy's National Technology Transfer Hub for biopharma. The company builds on research from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Italian Research National Council and the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore.

Why It Matters
The seed round provides Aptadir with capital to advance its preclinical pipeline, including its lead Fragile X Syndrome program and its oncology-focused efforts. The breadth of the investor syndicate—spanning venture capital firms, corporate investors, and Italian technology transfer and angel networks—reflects early-stage interest in the company's single-gene methylation approach.
For those tracking early-stage biotech in Europe, Aptadir's focus on RNA inhibitors that act at the single-gene level represents a differentiated platform play, with a lead indication in Fragile X Syndrome and follow-on programs in intractable cancers.
