Aptadir Therapeutics is a Milan-based preclinical biotech developing a novel class of RNA inhibitors called DNMTs Interacting RNAs (DiRs), which block aberrant DNA methylation at the single-gene level to reactivate genes that disease has silenced. Its lead candidate CAP1-FMR1 targets Fragile X Syndrome, with additional programs aimed at intractable cancers such as myelodysplastic syndromes. Spun out in 2024 through EXTEND, Italy's National Technology Transfer Hub for biopharma, the company builds on research from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Italian Research National Council and the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore.
