Kuro raises €10M seed to bring AI to general contractors

Berlin-based construction technology startup Kuro has raised €10 million in seed funding, the company announced on September 30, 2026. The round was led by UVC Partners, with participation from Foundamental, Helloworld, and Realyze Ventures.

What Kuro does

Kuro is building an AI platform for general contractors. The system ingests a project's plans, specifications, reports, and 3D models into a single data model, then layers the contractor's own rulebook on top of that data. From there, it flags contradictions between drawings and specifications, analyzes scope and risk, enriches 3D models, processes public tenders, and evaluates subcontractor bids.

The goal is to give general contractors a unified view of project information and automate checks that would otherwise require manual review across multiple documents and formats.

Traction with large contractors

Kuro says it serves 12 general contractors, including six of the 20 largest in the German-speaking region. Named customers include Goldbeck, Köster, Implenia, Geiger, and Riedel. According to the company, these contractors report saving around 90 hours per bid.

That level of time savings is notable in construction, where bidding is often document-heavy and deadline-driven. If the platform can consistently reduce bid preparation time, it addresses a clear operational pain point for contractors managing complex tenders.

Founding team

Kuro was founded in November 2024 by Lea Scherer and Jonas Minkler. Both previously held leadership roles at construction-tech companies alcemy and Capmo, giving them direct experience in the sector Kuro is targeting.

Why this matters for acquisition watchers

Kuro sits at the intersection of construction technology and applied AI — a combination that has attracted increasing attention from strategic buyers and investors. The company's focus on general contractors, rather than point solutions for individual trades, positions it as a potential platform play in the construction workflow.

Its early customer roster includes some of the largest contractors in the German-speaking market, which could make it an attractive target for larger construction software providers, engineering firms, or enterprise software companies looking to expand into construction AI.

The seed round, led by UVC Partners with backing from Foundamental, Helloworld, and Realyze Ventures, gives Kuro capital to expand its platform and customer base. For now, the company has not disclosed specific plans for the funding.
