OpenReserve Holdings Raises $25M Seed Led by a16z crypto
OpenReserve Holdings Secures $25M Seed Round
OpenReserve Holdings, a Salt Lake City fintech founded in 2025, has raised $25 million in seed funding. The round was led by a16z crypto, with participation from Zero Knowledge Ventures, Quona Capital, AAF Management, Jump Capital, Acrew Capital, Wintermute Ventures, Coinbase Ventures and Clocktower Technology Ventures. The funding date is September 3, 2026.
What OpenReserve Holdings Does
OpenReserve Holdings is building a branchless national bank that weaves blockchain infrastructure into traditional banking. The company was founded by MoneyLion co-founders Dee Choubey and Richard Correia.
Its proposed OpenReserve Bank, N.A. has applied to the OCC for a charter and to the FDIC for deposit insurance. The bank aims to offer lending, deposits, card issuance, payments and settlement to fintechs, digital-asset platforms and businesses.
A planned subsidiary, ReserveUSD, would handle GENIUS Act-compliant stablecoin issuance, custody and conversion.
Strategic Focus
OpenReserve Holdings sits at the intersection of traditional banking and digital assets. By pursuing a national bank charter and deposit insurance, the company intends to provide regulated banking services to fintech and crypto-native clients. The planned ReserveUSD subsidiary would address stablecoin issuance and custody under the GENIUS Act framework.
Acquisition Perspective
The seed round provides OpenReserve Holdings with capital to pursue its charter applications and build out its banking and blockchain infrastructure. For acquirers in fintech, digital assets or traditional banking, the company offers a rare combination: an experienced founding team with a successful exit in fintech, a proposed national bank charter, and a stablecoin-focused subsidiary designed for regulatory compliance. The involvement of a16z crypto, Coinbase Ventures and other prominent investors signals strong confidence in the model.
