Alteon Raises $2.5M Pre-Seed for Ocean-Wind-Powered Aircraft
Alteon Secures $2.5M Pre-Seed Funding
Bengaluru-based deep-tech aerospace startup Alteon has raised $2.5 million in a Pre-Seed funding round. The round was led by Lachy Groom, with participation from Together Fund. The funding was announced on September 1, 2026.
Company Overview
Alteon is developing small autonomous fixed-wing aircraft that aim to stay airborne for months to over a year by harvesting energy from ocean winds through dynamic soaring — the wind-gradient technique used by albatrosses. The company targets maritime surveillance for governments as its first commercial application.
Founding and Team
Founded by Samay Sanghvi, who began the project in 2023 and formally incorporated the company in 2025, Alteon operates from a 10,000 sq ft facility in Bengaluru with a team of about 20. The company regularly conducts test flights over the Bay of Bengal.
Use of Funds
The new capital will likely be used to advance the development of its aircraft and expand its team as it moves toward commercial deployment. Specific plans for the funds were not disclosed.
Investor Confidence
The participation of Lachy Groom and Together Fund signals confidence in Alteon's innovative approach to sustainable long-endurance flight. This funding will support the startup in achieving its milestones.
