Reclinker (formerly Cambridge Electric Cement) is a University of Cambridge climate-tech spinout developing a process that recycles waste concrete into fresh low-carbon cement. Its core innovation substitutes recovered cement paste for the lime flux used in the electric arc furnaces that recycle steel, co-producing recycled clinker while avoiding the kiln energy and calcination emissions of conventional Portland cement. The company is commercialising the technology with UK industrial partners as a low-capex, drop-in replacement for CEM I cement.
