CURA Climate is a Calgary-based cleantech company developing electrochemical technology that electrifies the core limestone-decomposition step of cement production, replacing high-temperature combustion to cut cement emissions by up to 85%. The process yields a low-carbon calcium product and a concentrated CO2 stream that integrate with existing cement and lime plants and work with varied feedstocks, including lower-purity limestone and industrial waste streams. Founded in 2025, CURA is moving from a 100-tonne-per-year pilot plant with Grand Forks Concrete toward a 30,000-tonne-per-year commercial demonstration facility, with partners and MOUs across the cement and construction value chain including ACCIONA and Aecon.
