Overview
This skill is a daily work-start assistant that reads your Obsidian inbox and planning files, summarizes today’s todos, confirms content-creation plans, shows weekly progress, and optionally gathers today's AI hotspots. It helps you quickly orient and jump into focused work using a compact, one-screen summary and actionable suggestions. Trigger phrases: "start work", "start a new day", "what to do today".
How this skill works
The skill reads configured Obsidian paths (inbox, annual and weekly plans, writing backlog, topic pool, recent context, and core values) to extract pending items and progress. It produces a three-part flow: today’s todo summary, a content-planning checklist that prompts specific actions, and a weekly progress dashboard with a motivational line based on core values. If requested, it invokes a topic-collector to fetch current AI hotspots.
When to use it
- At the start of your workday to get a concise agenda.
- When you need a quick decision on which task to begin.
- Before writing or publishing content to confirm plans for the day.
- When you want an at-a-glance view of weekly targets and progress.
- If you want to optionally fetch today’s AI news or trends.
Best practices
- Keep inbox and plan files in the configured Obsidian folders for accurate extraction.
- Use the quick trigger "what to do today" for a condensed morning checklist.
- Answer the content-confirmation prompts to get tailored suggestions and next steps.
- Run the hotspot collector only when you need trend context to avoid interruptions.
- Update weekly plan files so progress bars and counts reflect reality.
Example use cases
- Morning routine: run the full startup to see urgent todos, content plan, and weekly progress in one screen.
- Quick standup: use the quick version to show just today’s todos and content choices before a meeting.
- Content session: confirm whether to continue a draft or pick a new topic and get concrete next steps.
- Progress check: request only the weekly progress view to review article/video/dynamic goals mid-week.
- Trend research: opt into AI hotspots collection when preparing a timely post or newsletter.
FAQ
Yes. Use the quick trigger for a compact checklist (todos + content prompts). You can also skip hotspot collection when asked.
How does the skill pick where to start?
It ranks items by urgency and proximity to deadlines, then offers a one-line suggestion with an estimated time and next action.
