Overview
This skill routes product management tasks to the right workflow and enforces structured, evidence-driven outputs. It detects task intent (PRD, competitive analysis, metrics, retention, etc.), announces the chosen workflow, and runs multi-step processes with confirmation gates. Use it to avoid wasted work and to keep product thinking rigorous and scoped.
How this skill works
The skill inspects the user's task text for trigger keywords (PRD, competitive analysis, metrics, OKRs, cohort, requirements, tech debt, game-changing features, market positioning, retention, product strategy). It maps the task to a specific workflow, loads the relevant reference materials, and runs the workflow while pausing at defined checkpoints for confirmation. Workflows use Ask prompts to gather missing input, ground recommendations in evidence, and prefer story points over time estimates.
When to use it
- Validating or scoping a product idea and writing a PRD
- Running a competitive analysis or defining market positioning
- Defining goals, OKRs, KPIs, and tracking systems
- Synthesizing user research or performing cohort/retention analysis
- Prioritizing technical debt or ideating breakthrough features
Best practices
- Start by answering the Ask prompts so the workflow has the right inputs
- Confirm each checkpoint unless you explicitly request 'proceed without confirmation'
- Ground claims with evidence or metrics and call out assumptions clearly
- Use story points for effort estimates and default to reducing scope
- Challenge existing assumptions and surface trade-offs early
Example use cases
- Route a brief: 'Audit our churn by cohort and suggest retention experiments' -> Cohort Analysis workflow
- Turn feature idea into an MVP-scoped PRD with clear acceptance criteria and story-point sizing
- Compare three competitors and produce positioning statements and win/loss themes
- Build OKRs and a measurement plan that ties goals to specific KPIs and tracking events
- Triage a backlog of tech debt and recommend remediation priorities using impact-effort framing
FAQ
It matches trigger keywords and task context to a predefined mapping, then announces the selected workflow and asks clarifying questions if needed.
Can I skip the confirmation gates?
Yes. Say 'proceed without confirmation' to run the workflow uninterrupted, but checkpoints exist to avoid wasted effort and ensure alignment.
