Overview
This skill helps you search domain names, verify availability, compare registrar prices, find promo codes, and deliver clear purchase recommendations. It focuses on short, brandable suggestions and practical price comparisons for TLDs including .ai and .com. Use it to make a cost-aware buying decision quickly.
How this skill works
I generate 5–10 concise domain suggestions from your project brief, then verify availability with WHOIS or registrar searches before presenting options. After you approve a name, I pull current registrar prices from price-aggregation sites and registrar pages, scan social sources for promo codes, and produce a final recommendation with purchase links and a side-by-side price table. I flag unverified items and note special TLD rules like .ai two-year minimums.
When to use it
- You want a shortlist of short, brandable domain ideas and availability checks
- You need to compare registration and renewal costs across registrars
- You want to find any active promo codes or coupons before buying
- You’re evaluating premium TLDs (.ai, .io) and need pricing guidance
- You need a simple purchase recommendation and direct registrar links
Best practices
- Always confirm availability with WHOIS or the registrar before committing
- Prefer names under 15 characters and memorable combinations (action+noun, noun+suffix)
- Check both first-year price and renewal price — renewals can be higher
- Expect limited promo availability for premium TLDs (.ai, .io) and treat promo info as time-sensitive
- Ask for user confirmation before moving from name selection to price comparison
Example use cases
- A startup founder wants 8 short .com name options and cheapest registrar for 2 years
- A developer hunting an available .ai domain who needs to know two-year costs and renewal rules
- A solopreneur comparing Cloudflare vs Namecheap pricing and privacy options
- A buyer looking for active promo codes on Twitter and Reddit before checkout
- A domain investor validating availability in bulk and getting purchase links
FAQ
No. Premium TLDs (like .ai and .io) rarely have promo codes because wholesale registry costs are high.
How reliable is availability checking?
WHOIS is the most reliable. Registrar search pages and bulk checks are useful fallbacks; mark any uncertain results as unverified.
Do you compare renewal prices?
Yes. I always include first-year and renewal pricing, and a 2-year total when relevant, since renewal rates often differ.
