Overview

This skill is a build-in-public companion for indie hackers that guides idea capture, draft creation, and social engagement. It acts as a living assistant that helps you keep momentum, shape a project personality, and publish consistent content. Configure a local data path and a voice profile to start generating backlog-to-publish workflows and Twitter/X strategies.

How this skill works

The skill stores all content and metadata in a local dataPath with folders for ideas, drafts, and activity snapshots. It reads your backlog and session logs, generates drafts in a chosen voice, and offers Telegram-friendly buttons for saving, regenerating, or publishing. Additional modules provide Twitter/X strategy, watchlist monitoring, and a Soul Wizard that builds a project personality from docs.

When to use it

  • When you need a repeatable backlog → draft → publish content workflow.
  • When your project is losing momentum and you want data-driven nudges.
  • When you want to create a clear project personality or brand voice.
  • When you need tactical Twitter/X engagement suggestions based on activity.
  • When you want quick, inline actions via Telegram to manage ideas and drafts.

Best practices

  • Set solobuddy.dataPath to a dedicated project folder and keep ideas/drafts under that path.
  • Choose or customize a voice profile to keep content tone consistent across posts.
  • Commit drafts frequently and use the activity snapshot to time pushes and nudges.
  • Use session-log captures for raw ideas and convert them into structured backlog items.
  • Enable the Twitter Monitor only if you have the required bird CLI and a watchlist.

Example use cases

  • Turn a scattered notes folder into a prioritized backlog and generate a publishable post.
  • Detect a cooling phase from activity-snapshot.json and prompt a short update thread on X.
  • Run the Soul Wizard to extract a project personality and craft on-brand tweets and CTAs.
  • Use Telegram buttons to browse ideas, generate a draft, save it, and trigger a git push.
  • Monitor high-activity projects and surface timely engagement opportunities for replies.

FAQ

Set solobuddy.voice in your config to jester-sage, technical, casual, or custom; put a custom voice prompt in dataPath/voice.md.

Where is project activity stored?

Activity snapshots live at {dataPath}/data/activity-snapshot.json and update hourly with phase, commits counts, and a human-readable insight.
