Overview

This skill turns OpenClaw into a Nostr personal assistant that manages decentralized social identities and interactions. It handles key generation, posting, following, timeline reading, AI filtering, smart recommendations, encrypted direct messages, and nickname management. The goal is to make everyday Nostr tasks simple, secure, and discoverable.

How this skill works

Clawlet generates and stores Nostr keys locally and connects to public relays to send and receive events. It can post text events, manage follow lists, read timelines, and inspect user profiles. Built-in AI filters and recommendation logic scan timelines and surface relevant users or content. Encrypted direct messages use NIP-04 and nicknames map human-friendly labels to pubkeys.

When to use it

  • Create or export a Nostr identity and keys
  • Post status updates or broadcast announcements to Nostr
  • Follow or unfollow users by pubkey or nickname
  • Read and filter your timeline for relevant content
  • Send or read encrypted direct messages (NIP-04)
  • Assign, list, or remove nicknames for contacts

Best practices

  • Keep private keys stored only locally and back them up regularly
  • Use nicknames to avoid handling raw pubkeys in commands
  • Limit relay connections to trusted public relays to reduce noise
  • Enable AI filtering to prioritize timeline content by interest
  • Rotate and export keys securely when migrating devices

Example use cases

  • Generate a new Nostr identity and export the private key for backup
  • Post: “Launched Clawlet — check it out!” to connected relays
  • Follow a recommended user discovered by interest-based suggestions
  • Filter your timeline to show only posts about a chosen topic
  • Send an encrypted DM to a contact using a saved nickname
  • Assign the nickname “Alice” to a pubkey and later message her

FAQ

Private keys are stored locally in the skill data directory; export and back up the key file securely.

How does encrypted messaging work?

Encrypted direct messages use NIP-04: messages are encrypted end-to-end using sender and recipient keys and relayed via connected relays.
