Overview

This skill provides a CLI tool to run App Store Optimization (ASO) workflows across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Watch, and VisionOS. It helps discover keywords with popularity and difficulty metrics, track keyword ranking over time, and monitor ratings, editorial features, and chart appearances with machine-readable JSON output. The CLI is designed for automation and integration into reporting or CI pipelines.

How this skill works

You run commands that query app stores for keyword metrics, search results, related apps, chart positions, featuring events, and ratings. Most commands support a --json flag so outputs are easy to parse and ingest into analytics systems. The tool supports tracking and planning apps, adding/removing tracked keywords, and scheduling or annotating ASO events to correlate activity with performance changes.

When to use it

  • Build or refresh keyword lists during product launches or metadata updates
  • Continuously track keyword positions and app chart placements to measure ASO impact
  • Monitor ratings and editorial features to detect boosts or issues after marketing pushes
  • Compare competitor apps and related apps to find gaps and opportunities
  • Automate daily/weekly ASO reporting with JSON outputs for dashboards

Best practices

  • Always pass --json for commands that support it to simplify parsing and automation
  • Set correct region and platform (defaults are US and iPhone) to match your market and device targets
  • Limit keyword queries to API constraints (keywords: up to 50 per request; tracked adds/removes: up to 200)
  • Use tracked apps and tracked-keywords lists to maintain historical position data rather than ad-hoc checks
  • Annotate actions with events to correlate releases, campaigns, or metadata changes with performance

Example use cases

  • Run keyword discovery for an iPhone app to get popularity and difficulty before a metadata update
  • Add 100 high-potential keywords to tracked-keywords and schedule nightly position checks for trend analysis
  • Monitor charts and featuring for an app across platforms to spot editorial coverage or sudden rank shifts
  • Export ratings and charts JSON to feed a BI dashboard that alerts on rating drops or surges
  • Search for competitor apps and add related apps to a watchlist for competitive ASO research

FAQ

Supported platforms include iphone, ipad, mac, appletv, watch, and vision. Region defaults to US but can be overridden per command.

Are all outputs machine-readable?

Most commands accept --json to return machine-readable JSON. login and logout do not support --json.

Any limits on keyword requests?

Yes. The keywords command accepts up to 50 keywords per request. tracked-keywords add/remove accept up to 200 keywords per request.
