Overview

This skill generates professional slide deck images from academic papers and other content. It creates comprehensive, editable outlines, auto-detects and extracts figures from PDFs, and then produces individual slide images plus optional PPTX/PDF outputs. Designed for readable, self-contained slides optimized for sharing and offline consumption.

How this skill works

The skill analyzes source content (PDF or text), selects or auto-suggests a visual style, and builds three outline variants. For PDFs it runs automated figure detection to map figures and captions to slides, extracts images when requested, and inserts IMAGE_SOURCE metadata into the outline. Finally it converts the outline into per-slide prompts and generates high-resolution slide images; slides can be merged into PPTX or PDF.

When to use it

  • You want slides from a conference paper, thesis, or arXiv PDF
  • You need a self-contained, shareable deck for reading or social media
  • You want automatic extraction of figures/tables from a PDF
  • You need style-consistent slide images that match audience level
  • You want an editable outline before image generation

Best practices

  • Provide the source PDF or detailed text to preserve fidelity
  • Choose target slide count and audience to guide summarization
  • Pick a visual style (or rely on auto-style signals) before generating images
  • Use --outline-only to review and edit outline before image generation
  • Confirm figure mappings and captions when working with academic PDFs

Example use cases

  • Generate a 10-slide summary of a conference paper with extracted figures and method diagram
  • Create executive-friendly slides from technical content using the minimal style
  • Produce educational slides in sketch-notes style for a tutorial or classroom
  • Convert a research article into a shareable PDF and a PPTX with all source figures included
  • Draft multiple style variants and let stakeholders pick one before final image generation

FAQ

Yes. You can pass a style flag or choose from auto-selected options; specify audience (beginners, experts, executives) to tailor language and detail.

How are figures handled for PDFs?

The skill auto-detects figures/tables and populates IMAGE_SOURCE entries; it can extract those figures into images and apply templates for placement on slides.

Can I preview or edit the outline before images are generated?

Yes. The tool generates outline variants and pauses for user selection and edits. Use --outline-only to stop after outlines.

What output formats are produced?

Outputs include per-slide PNGs and optional merged PPTX and PDF files; all files are saved in a session directory named by a content slug.
