Overview

This skill creates high-performing competitor comparison and alternative pages for SEO and sales enablement. It covers four page formats—singular alternative, plural alternatives, you vs competitor, and competitor vs competitor—and emphasizes deep research, modular content architecture, and conversion-focused structure. The output is ready-to-publish copy, data files, and a prioritized page plan.

How this skill works

I inspect product marketing context, competitor profiles, pricing, review signals, and customer feedback to build a single source of truth per competitor. Using that data I generate page-specific content: TL;DR, comparison tables, paragraph-level analysis, migration guidance, and tailored CTAs. Pages are modular so competitor data can be updated centrally and propagate across all comparison pages. I also provide SEO targets, URL patterns, and internal linking recommendations.

When to use it

  • When building an '[Competitor] alternative' or 'alternative to [Competitor]' page
  • When creating 'best [Competitor] alternatives' or plural comparison landing pages
  • When producing a '[You] vs [Competitor]' or '[Competitor A] vs [Competitor B]' comparison
  • When you need conversion-focused copy that honestly positions strengths and weaknesses
  • When you want scalable, centralized competitor data for many comparison pages

Best practices

  • Start with a product-marketing context file and reuse it across pages
  • Include 4–7 real alternatives for plural pages to boost trust and rankings
  • Use paragraph comparisons in addition to tables to explain why differences matter
  • Centralize competitor data (positioning, pricing, pros/cons, migration notes) for easy updates
  • Be honest about competitor strengths; recommend the best option by use case

Example use cases

  • Create a /alternatives/[competitor] page for users looking to switch
  • Build a /alternatives/[competitor]-alternatives hub to capture early-stage researchers
  • Publish a /vs/[competitor] page to address direct comparison search intent and help sales qualify leads
  • Produce /compare/[competitor-a]-vs-[competitor-b] pages to capture competitor-vs-competitor queries and introduce your product as a third option
  • Generate a dataset of competitor profiles to power programmatic SEO and internal sales battlecards

FAQ

Yes. Real switcher quotes increase credibility and conversion; include them where available and attribute appropriately.

How often should competitor data be refreshed?

Verify pricing and major feature changes quarterly, and trigger updates immediately when customers report material changes.
