Overview
This skill detects stocks where blogger sentiment has changed significantly and highlights who shifted their view. It helps traders and researchers spot sentiment reversals, emerging trends, and unusual changes in mention volume. Results focus on direction changes, key authors, and reasons behind shifts.
How this skill works
The skill compares multi-day sentiment summaries to find tickers that moved from bullish to bearish or vice versa and identifies large changes in mention counts. For each notable change it retrieves detailed sentiment for the ticker and searches blogger viewpoints to extract explanations. It then compiles a concise report showing direction shifts, key contributors, and context like news or earnings that likely drove the change.
When to use it
- You want to find bloggers who changed their recommendation or stance
- You suspect a sentiment reversal preceding price moves
- Monitoring sudden increases or drops in social/ blog mentions
- Conducting event-driven analysis after earnings, news, or sector updates
- Screening for momentum signals based on crowd view shifts
Best practices
- Compare at least three time points (today, yesterday, and a few days ago) to reduce noise
- Focus on both direction changes and large percent changes in mentions
- Prioritize shifts by influence: weight bloggers by reach or historical accuracy
- Retrieve specific viewpoints to capture the rationale behind changes
- Include contextual events (news, earnings, regulatory) when available to explain shifts
Example use cases
- Find stocks where bloggers recently flipped from bearish to bullish ahead of a potential rebound
- Detect tickers with surging mentions that may indicate viral attention or breaking news
- Locate influential authors who reversed opinion, for use in watchlists or alerts
- Summarize market sentiment change for a sector after a major macro or earnings event
- Generate a short report highlighting top sentiment reversals for daily trading meetings
FAQ
Compare at least three points (today, yesterday, and ~3 days ago). This reduces false positives from one-day noise.
What counts as a significant change?
A direction flip (bullish↔bearish) is most important; also flag mention volume changes above 100% or large absolute jumps in mentions.
