Overview
This skill delivers a focused ecommerce SEO audit for product pages, collection/category pages, technical SEO, log file analysis, and competitor research. I identify critical issues, prioritize fixes, and provide actionable recommendations you can implement or hand to a developer. The output is practical: flagged problems, risk level, and concrete next steps.
How this skill works
Tell me the audit type, website URL, and any specific product/collection URLs or keywords you want examined. I fetch sample pages, check robots.txt and sitemaps, validate schema and canonical signals, and analyze provided crawl or log exports when available. For competitor audits I compare the top ranking pages for a keyword and highlight gaps and quick wins. Where site-wide data is needed, I explain what crawl or analytics exports to provide for deeper analysis.
When to use it
- You want a targeted product page optimization review
- You need category/collection pages checked for thin content or cannibalization
- You want crawl budget and Googlebot behavior analysed from server logs
- You need a technical health check (robots, sitemaps, canonicals, schema)
- You want competitor ranking analysis for a specific keyword
Best practices
- Provide crawl exports (Screaming Frog/Sitebulb) for full internal-link and link-depth audits
- Supply server logs for accurate Googlebot and crawl budget analysis
- Give 5–10 representative product URLs and 3–5 collection URLs for page-level audits
- Prioritize fixes by revenue impact and severity (critical tech issues first)
- Use hub-and-spoke internal linking: collection -> top products -> relevant blog guides
Example use cases
- Quick Technical Audit: verify robots.txt, sitemap, canonical tags, and product schema for a site before a migration
- Product Page Audit: find duplicate descriptions, missing schema, title/H1 issues across 10 product pages
- Collection Page Audit: detect thin category content, faceted navigation duplicates, and provide content templates
- Log File Analysis: identify Googlebot crawl patterns and wasted crawl budget over a date range
- Competitor Analysis: compare top 5 pages for a target keyword and produce a gap/priority checklist
FAQ
A crawl export from Screaming Frog or Sitebulb with inlinks and link depth. If not available, provide sitemap and representative URLs and I will perform a manual spot-check.
Can you crawl my entire site automatically?
No. I can fetch and analyze specific pages you provide and interpret crawl or log exports you supply, but I cannot perform a full autonomous site crawl without your data.
