The QuantConnect MCP Server acts as a bridge that lets AI clients interact with your cloud platform to manage projects, write and backtest strategies, and deploy live algorithms. With the MCP, you can run powerful automation from your preferred AI assistant while keeping control over what actions are performed on your behalf.

How to use

You connect an MCP client to the QuantConnect MCP Server by starting the server container locally and pointing your AI client at it. The server exposes a set of operations you can invoke from your MCP client, such as creating projects, writing files, running backtests, and launching live trading sessions. Use an MCP client to issue commands that map to these operations and monitor results through the client’s interface.

How to install

Prerequisites you need before starting: Docker Desktop installed on your machine and your MCP client (for example, Claude Desktop) ready to configure.

    "quantconnect": {
      "command": "docker",
      "args": [
        "run",
        "-i",
        "--rm",
        "-e", "QUANTCONNECT_USER_ID",
        "-e", "QUANTCONNECT_API_TOKEN",
        "-e", "AGENT_NAME",
        "--platform", "<your_platform>",
        "--name",
        "quantconnect-mcp-server",
        "quantconnect/mcp-server"
      ],
      "env": {
        "QUANTCONNECT_USER_ID": "<your_user_id>",
        "QUANTCONNECT_API_TOKEN": "<your_api_token>",
        "AGENT_NAME": "MCP Server"
      }
    }
  }
}

Additional notes

This MCP server is designed to be multi-platform. If you are running on an ARM chip (for example, Apple Silicon), add the platform option to the docker run command as shown. You can run multiple MCP agents by giving each a unique AGENT_NAME so you can track requests from different sources.

To fetch the latest server image, pull from Docker Hub before starting your client configuration. If you are using ARM hardware, include the platform flag as needed.
