Spectronix Raises ¥518M Series C+ for Deep-UV Picosecond Lasers
Spectronix Secures ¥518 Million in Series C+ Funding
Spectronix Corporation, a Suita, Osaka-based laser developer, has raised ¥518,000,000 in a Series C+ round. The funding was announced on October 1, 2026.
What the Company Does
Founded in 2004, Spectronix develops, manufactures and sells short-wavelength, ultra-short-pulse (picosecond) laser oscillators, along with laser-processing solutions that include optics design and processing verification.
The company's proprietary LD-GS architecture powers a 266nm deep-UV picosecond laser oscillator. Spectronix reports that this oscillator delivers world-leading output and lifetime. The technology is aimed at micromachining applications in semiconductor back-end production, electronic components and advanced materials.
Spectronix is a government J-Startup selectee and partners on fine-drilling applications with players such as Mitsubishi Electric and the University of Tokyo.

Why It Matters
Spectronix sits at the intersection of photonics and semiconductor manufacturing equipment — a segment where deep-UV picosecond laser sources are increasingly relevant to back-end production and advanced materials processing. The company's stated performance claims around output and lifetime, combined with its existing partnerships on fine-drilling applications, position it as a specialist supplier rather than a general-purpose laser vendor.
The investor syndicate blends large domestic venture capital (JAFCO), regional innovation capital (Japan Post Spiral Regional Innovation Fund), corporate and strategic funds (NOBUNAGA Capital Village, DBJ Capital), and regional venture firms (Chushin Venture Capital, Nissei Capital), alongside the JM Strategic Innovation Investment LP. That mix suggests continued backing from both financial and strategically oriented sources as the company scales.
Acquisition Angle
For acquirers in semiconductor equipment, photonics or advanced manufacturing, Spectronix represents a focused asset with proprietary oscillator architecture, a defined wavelength niche (266nm deep-UV picosecond), and established relationships with industrial and academic partners. Its J-Startup designation and government-linked visibility may also factor into any strategic evaluation.
This Series C+ extends the company's runway as it continues to develop and commercialize its laser oscillators and processing solutions.
