Finmid Raises €17M Series A Led by Big Pi Ventures to Scale Embedded Lending Infrastructure

Finmid Raises €17M Series A Led by Big Pi Ventures

Berlin-based embedded lending company Finmid has raised €17 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Big Pi Ventures, with participation from Earlybird and Mainset.

What Finmid Does

Finmid provides white-label lending infrastructure that lets marketplaces and B2B platforms offer financing to their business customers without becoming banks themselves. The company was founded in 2021 by former N26 executives Alexander Talkanitsa and Max Schertel.

Its infrastructure is designed for platforms that want to embed financing directly into their existing products and workflows, rather than building lending operations from scratch or obtaining banking licenses.

Platform Reach

Finmid powers financing programmes for a range of platforms, including:

  • Wolt
  • Delivery Hero
  • myPOS
  • Bolt
  • Skroutz

These partnerships give the company exposure across food delivery, payments, mobility and e-commerce marketplaces — segments where merchant and business-customer financing needs are frequent and recurring.

Why This Round Matters

The Series A positions Finmid to expand its embedded lending infrastructure at a time when marketplaces and B2B platforms are increasingly looking to add financial products as a way to deepen customer relationships and create new revenue streams.

By operating as an infrastructure provider rather than a direct lender, Finmid allows platforms to offer financing under their own brand while the company handles the underlying lending mechanics. That model can be attractive to platforms that want to move quickly without taking on the full regulatory and operational burden of becoming a bank.

Acquisition Angle

For acquirers, Finmid represents a piece of embedded finance infrastructure with an existing roster of platform partners. The company sits at the intersection of lending technology and marketplace enablement — a combination that could be strategically relevant to banks, payment processors, and larger fintech platforms looking to add white-label lending capabilities.

Its founding team's background at N26 adds operating experience in digital banking and financial products, which may be relevant to buyers evaluating execution capability in regulated-adjacent fintech.

The €17 million Series A, led by Big Pi Ventures with Earlybird and Mainset participating, gives Finmid capital to continue building out its infrastructure and partner network.
