Nexeon Raises £100M Series C+ for Silicon Anode Battery Materials

Nexeon, a UK-headquartered battery materials company, has raised £100 million in a Series C+ funding round. The investment was led by the National Wealth Fund, with participation from Korea Development Bank and Honda Xcelerator Ventures.

The company specializes in developing and manufacturing silicon-based anode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Its technology aims to enable higher energy density, faster charging, and longer electric-vehicle range compared to conventional graphite anodes.

Nexeon is headquartered in Oxfordshire, UK, with a technical centre in Yokohama, Japan, and commercial teams across Europe, Japan, South Korea, and the US. The company serves automotive and consumer-electronics customers and has brought online its first volume production facility for silicon-carbon anode materials in Gunsan, South Korea.

The new funding is expected to support Nexeon's continued growth and expansion in the battery materials market. With the backing of strategic investors like Honda Xcelerator Ventures and Korea Development Bank, Nexeon is well-positioned to advance its technology and meet the growing demand for high-performance battery materials.

This investment round underscores the increasing importance of advanced materials in the transition to electric vehicles and renewable energy storage. Nexeon's silicon-based anodes could play a crucial role in improving battery performance and accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles worldwide.
