Voltaback Raises €2.8M Seed Led by Serena for Hardware-Free Fleet Management
Voltaback Closes €2.8M Seed Round
Voltaback, a French fleet management software company, has raised €2.8 million in seed funding. The round was led by Serena via InnovAllianz III, with participation from Maxime Brousse and Aurélien de Meaux.
What Voltaback Does
Voltaback uses connected vehicle data to manage corporate fleets without any onboard hardware. The company's approach avoids the installation of physical telematics devices, relying instead on data already generated by vehicles and related systems.
Starting Point: EV Charging Reimbursement
Voltaback began with home EV charging reimbursement. The company reconstructs employees' charging sessions from electricity bills, meters and vehicle data to produce URSSAF-compliant receipts. The method is patented and has been validated by Bureau Veritas.
This is a specific and operationally sensitive problem for French employers: employees who charge company vehicles at home need documented, compliant reimbursement, and reconstructing those sessions accurately — without hardware — requires correlating multiple data sources.
Traction
Within twelve months, Voltaback's platform was adopted by 20% of CAC 40 companies. Named customers include:
- Veolia
- Equans
- BNP Paribas
That adoption rate among large French corporates is notable for a company at the seed stage, and it reflects the compliance-driven nature of the initial use case.
Expansion Beyond Charging
Voltaback has since expanded into broader fleet management and employee mobility, covering both electric and combustion vehicles. The move takes the company from a narrow reimbursement workflow into the wider fleet management software market — while retaining its hardware-free positioning.

Why It Matters
Fleet management has traditionally relied on aftermarket hardware installations. Voltaback's software-only model removes that deployment step, which can be a significant friction point for large fleets. By proving the approach first on a compliance-critical reimbursement use case — with URSSAF-compliant receipts and Bureau Veritas validation — the company established credibility with large employers before broadening its scope.
What's Next
With seed funding secured and a lead investor in Serena, Voltaback is positioned to build on its CAC 40 adoption and continue expanding its fleet management and employee mobility platform across electric and combustion vehicle fleets.
