Cosma Raises €2.1M Seed to Scale Autonomous Underwater Drones for Seafloor Monitoring

Cosma, a deeptech startup specializing in autonomous underwater drones and AI-powered seafloor analysis, has raised €2.1 million in a Seed round. The funding was announced on September 2, 2026, with Ring Capital leading the round. Additional investors include Ternel, Wind, 50partners, Caisse d’Épargne Côte d’Azur, Ifremer, Région Sud Investissement, and Sustainable Ocean Alliance.

Founded in 2022, Cosma develops swarms of autonomous underwater drones capable of operating at depths of up to 200 meters. These drones are paired with an AI-powered cloud platform that enables mapping, monitoring, and analysis of seafloor ecosystems. The technology uses photogrammetric reconstruction and species detection to generate detailed photographic seabed models and biodiversity reports, supporting environmental monitoring and subsea infrastructure planning.

The new capital will likely accelerate the deployment of Cosma’s drone swarms and enhance its cloud platform, addressing the growing need for efficient and accurate underwater data collection. With this investment, Cosma is positioned to expand its impact in marine conservation and industrial applications.
