Notes.fm Raises $5M Series A to Expand Music Royalty Collection Platform
Notes.fm Raises $5M Series A
Notes.fm, a New York-based music royalty collection platform, has raised $5 million in Series A funding. The round was announced on September 17, 2026.
What Notes.fm Does
Notes.fm helps independent musicians, artists and music companies identify, manage and collect all of their royalties. The platform unites music distribution, publishing administration, financial accounts and catalog royalty review in one subscription-based workflow.
A defining feature of the company's model is that it takes zero percent of artist royalties. Instead, artists pay for the service through a subscription.
Founding Team
Notes.fm was founded by Tim Luckow, a co-founder of Stem, and co-founder Derek Davies.
Credits.fm and Royalty Recovery
The company also operates Credits.fm, a free and open music-credits database that indexes more than 150 million song codes.
According to the company, the platform has identified over $10 million in previously unclaimed royalties for artists including James Blake, Zach Bryan, Mt. Joy and Girl In Red.
Investor Group
The Series A round includes participation from a broad group of investors spanning artists, managers, labels and executives:
- Zach Bryan

Why It Matters
Royalty collection for independent artists has historically been fragmented across distribution, publishing and accounting systems. Notes.fm's approach consolidates those functions into a single subscription workflow while leaving royalty income entirely with the artist. The company's open credits database, Credits.fm, adds a data layer that supports identification of royalties that might otherwise go unclaimed.
With the new capital, Notes.fm is positioned to continue building out its platform at the intersection of music rights administration and financial infrastructure.
