Jar raises Rs 290 crore Series B to expand digital gold savings and D2C jewellery push

Jar Raises Rs 290 Crore in Series B Funding

Jar, the Bengaluru-based fintech that lets users automate micro-savings in 24K digital gold, has raised Rs 290 crore in a Series B round. The funding was announced on 18 September 2026.

What Jar Does

Jar's core product is built around small, recurring gold purchases. Users can set up UPI-based daily, weekly or monthly deposits starting from just Rs 10, automating the accumulation of 24K digital gold over time.

The gold held through the platform is stored in insured vaults. Users can redeem their holdings as coins, bars or jewellery, giving the savings product a physical redemption path rather than leaving balances purely digital.

Beyond its original savings proposition, Jar has expanded in two directions:

  • D2C jewellery: The company has moved into direct-to-consumer jewellery through its Nek brand.
  • Insurance: Jar has also extended into insurance offerings, broadening its position in the consumer financial services stack.

The round was raised at the Series B stage, following Jar's earlier venture backing. Unitary Fund is listed among the investors in this round. No lead investor was disclosed for the raise.

Existing Backers

Jar's investor base includes Tiger Global, Unitary Fund and WEH Ventures. That mix combines large global crossover-style capital with earlier-stage venture support, and Unitary Fund's participation in the Series B follows its prior involvement with the company.

Why the Raise Matters

Jar sits at the intersection of two durable consumer behaviours in India: small-ticket recurring savings and gold ownership. Gold remains a deeply embedded savings and gifting asset for Indian households, and Jar's model lowers the entry point to Rs 10 while removing the friction of physical purchases through UPI-based automation.

The Series B capital arrives as the company is no longer a single-product savings app. With Nek, it is competing in the D2C jewellery market, where brand, design and fulfilment capabilities matter alongside the underlying gold economics. With insurance, it is adding another financial product to a user base already accustomed to transacting on the platform.

For acquirers and strategic partners, Jar represents a consumer fintech asset with:

  • A recurring, automated savings habit embedded in users' UPI workflows
  • A physical redemption pathway through insured vaults
  • An owned D2C jewellery brand in Nek
  • An expanding product surface that now includes insurance
  • A cap table that includes Tiger Global, Unitary Fund and WEH Ventures

What to Watch

The Series B gives Jar room to scale its gold savings base, deepen the Nek jewellery business and build out its insurance offering. How effectively the company converts micro-savings users into jewellery buyers and insurance customers will determine whether it becomes a broader consumer financial platform or remains primarily a gold accumulation product.

With Rs 290 crore in fresh capital and a set of established backers, Jar is now funded to test that expansion at greater scale.
