Apollon Raises KRW 5B Series A Led by SBI Investment for Needle-Free CGM

Apollon Closes KRW 5 Billion Series A

Apollon, a South Korean medtech company, has raised KRW 5 billion in Series A funding. The round was led by SBI Investment, with participation from Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, Naver, Daewoong (대웅), and Mirae Science and Technology Holdings (미래과학기술지주).

What Apollon Does

Apollon is developing a needle-free continuous glucose monitor that measures glucose through the skin using Raman spectroscopy. The approach isolates glucose-specific wavelength bands, which allows the company to shrink its wearable device, called Moglu, to roughly half the size of a smartphone.

Apollon operates teams in Seoul and Boston.

Clinical Validation and Recognition

The company validated accuracy in a joint clinical study with MIT's Laser Biomedical Research Center, published in the Journal of Diabetes Science and Technology. Moglu also won a CES 2025 Innovation Award.

Intellectual Property

Apollon holds 21 granted patents, 17 of them in the United States, out of 54 total filings.

Funding History

The Series A follows a KRW 2.3 billion pre-Series A round in 2024. The company's Series A was led by SBI Investment with strategic backing from Naver and Daewoong.

Deal Summary

  • Company: Apollon
  • Round: Series A
  • Amount: KRW 5,000,000,000
  • Date: September 23, 2026
  • Lead Investor: SBI Investment
  • Additional Investors: Korea Credit Guarantee Fund, Naver, SBI Investment, Daewoong (대웅), Mirae Science and Technology Holdings (미래과학기술지주)

Why It Matters

Continuous glucose monitoring is a competitive medtech category, and Apollon's needle-free Raman spectroscopy approach targets a key pain point for users: the discomfort and size constraints of existing wearables. The company's clinical validation with MIT, CES recognition, and patent portfolio provide tangible milestones behind the technology.

With strategic investors including Naver and Daewoong alongside lead SBI Investment, Apollon has assembled backing across consumer technology and healthcare. For acquisition watchers, the combination of differentiated sensor technology, a compact device form factor, and an established IP position makes Apollon a company to monitor in the glucose monitoring space.
