N&E Innovations Raises USD 1.7M Series A Led by Tundra Capital
N&E Innovations Closes USD 1.7 Million Series A
Singapore-based biotech N&E Innovations has raised a USD 1.7 million Series A round led by Tundra Capital. The round also included participation from SGInnovate, The Radical Fund, Archipelago VC and SG7 Group.
What the Company Does
Founded in 2020, N&E Innovations upcycles food and agricultural waste into ViKANG, a patented natural antimicrobial additive. The additive is formulated to be free of heavy metals and harsh chemicals — a differentiator in antimicrobial markets where regulatory and safety scrutiny is high.
ViKANG can be applied in two primary ways:
- As a coating
- Embedded into materials such as food packaging plastics
When embedded into packaging plastics, the additive is engineered to eliminate 99.9% of bacteria. The company targets applications across food preservation, packaging, medical, hygiene and water treatment.
The Upcycling Model
The feedstock for ViKANG is food and agricultural waste, which gives the company a sustainability narrative alongside its functional performance claims. Upcycling waste streams into a higher-value industrial input addresses two problems simultaneously: waste disposal and the need for effective antimicrobial materials. That positioning is likely to resonate with investors focused on circular-economy and climate-adjacent opportunities.
Market Applications
The company's target markets span several distinct segments:
- Food preservation and packaging — extending shelf life and reducing bacterial load in packaged goods
- Medical — antimicrobial surfaces and materials where hygiene is critical
- Hygiene — consumer and industrial hygiene products
- Water treatment — antimicrobial applications in water systems
The breadth of these applications means N&E Innovations is not dependent on a single end market, though each segment carries its own qualification and regulatory requirements.
Geographic Footprint
N&E Innovations operates from Singapore with an office in South Korea. The dual presence gives the company access to two developed Asian markets with strong food-processing, packaging and medical-device sectors.
Existing Backers
The company's earlier backers include Elev8, Seeds Capital, SGInnovate and Cercano. SGInnovate, a Singapore government-linked deep-tech investor, also participated in this Series A, alongside Tundra Capital, The Radical Fund, Archipelago VC and SG7 Group. The presence of both returning and new investors suggests continued conviction in the company's technology and commercialization path.
Why It Matters
Antimicrobial resistance and food safety are persistent global concerns, and demand for effective, chemical-light antimicrobial solutions continues to grow. A patented additive that can be embedded directly into packaging plastics — rather than applied only as a surface treatment — could offer packaging manufacturers a way to add functionality without major process changes.
The 99.9% bacterial elimination claim, if validated across relevant pathogens and use conditions, would position ViKANG competitively in food packaging and medical applications. The company's focus on avoiding heavy metals and harsh chemicals also aligns with tightening regulatory expectations in several markets.
Acquisition Angle
For strategic acquirers, N&E Innovations offers a patented additive technology with applications across packaging, medical and water treatment — three markets where antimicrobial functionality commands a premium. The upcycling feedstock model adds a sustainability dimension that can support ESG-linked procurement requirements.
The Series A capital, led by Tundra Capital with support from SGInnovate, The Radical Fund, Archipelago VC and SG7 Group, is positioned to help the company scale production and pursue commercial partnerships. Companies in specialty chemicals, packaging materials, medical devices or water treatment could view N&E Innovations as a tuck-in acquisition candidate with a defensible IP position and multiple end-market pathways.
