Aitiologic Raises €6.4M Seed Led by Heal Capital for Tissue-Resolved Liquid Biopsy
Aitiologic Raises €6.4M Seed
Vienna-based precision medicine company Aitiologic has raised €6.4 million in seed funding. The round was led by Heal Capital, with participation from Ananda Impact Ventures, PUSH VC, LANA Ventures and Gordon Sanghera.
What Aitiologic Does
Aitiologic is developing tissue-resolved liquid biopsy technology. Its Aitios platform reads genomic, epigenomic and fragmentomic signals from cell-free DNA in a routine blood sample, then applies AI-based interpretation to infer the tissue of origin and the biological changes it reflects.
The lead application is first-trimester preeclampsia risk stratification from the same blood draw already used for non-invasive prenatal testing. That positioning matters: rather than requiring an additional sample or procedure, the approach is designed to work within an existing clinical workflow.
The underlying technology was co-invented at Siemens Healthineers and is exclusively licensed to Aitiologic.
Why This Matters for the Market
Liquid biopsy has largely been associated with oncology, but Aitiologic is applying tissue-resolved cell-free DNA analysis to prenatal care. Preeclampsia risk stratification in the first trimester is a clinically meaningful target, and building on the blood draw already taken for NIPT could reduce friction for both clinicians and patients.
The combination of multi-omic signal reading and AI-based interpretation is central to the platform. If the approach validates, it could extend beyond preeclampsia into other applications where knowing the tissue of origin from a blood sample is valuable.
Deal Summary
- Company: Aitiologic
- Round: Seed
- Amount: €6.4 million
- Lead Investor: Heal Capital
- Other Investors: Ananda Impact Ventures, PUSH VC, LANA Ventures, Gordon Sanghera
- Headquarters: Vienna
- Focus: Tissue-resolved liquid biopsy and precision medicine
What to Watch
The seed funding gives Aitiologic capital to advance its Aitios platform and its lead preeclampsia application. The exclusive licence to technology co-invented at Siemens Healthineers provides a differentiated foundation, while the investor syndicate combines healthcare-focused venture capital with impact and strategic angel participation. For acquirers in diagnostics, prenatal testing and precision medicine, Aitiologic sits in a space where tissue-of-origin inference from routine blood draws could open multiple clinical pathways.
