THE PHAGE Raises ¥570M Seed for AI-Driven Glucose Management

THE PHAGE Secures ¥570 Million Seed Round

Tokyo-based digital-health startup THE PHAGE has raised ¥570 million in Seed funding. The round was backed by ITOCHU Technology Ventures.

What the Company Does

Founded in 2021, THE PHAGE builds personalized blood-glucose management powered by AI analysis of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and daily lifestyle behavior.

Its health-management app, glucose flight, pairs wearable CGM devices with AI that predicts post-meal glucose spikes and generates individualized diet and exercise guidance. The app is offered to users through health insurance societies and municipalities.

A notable technical milestone: glucose flight includes Japan's first official API integration with Abbott's FreeStyle Libre.

Beyond the Consumer App

THE PHAGE also provides research and development support to food and pharmaceutical companies. Its partners include Meiji, TOPPAN Holdings and Chiba University.

On the public-sector side, the company has run a large-scale data-health demonstration with Fukui Prefecture covering more than 4,000 residents.
