LOMBY raises ¥387M Series A led by Mercuria Investment for last-mile delivery robots

LOMBY Secures ¥387 Million Series A

Tokyo-based robotics startup LOMBY has raised a ¥387 million Series A round led by Mercuria Investment. The funding was announced on September 28, 2026.

What LOMBY Does

Founded in April 2022, LOMBY develops autonomous last-mile delivery robots that operate on public sidewalks at walking speed. The robots use camera and LiDAR sensing combined with remote human monitoring to navigate urban environments.

The company jointly develops its robots with Suzuki Motor, drawing on the automaker's electric wheelchair technology. LOMBY operates robot delivery for convenience stores including 7-Eleven in the Tokyo area, with orders placed through delivery apps and a LINE mini-app.

Robot Platform and Expansion

LOMBY is now moving its LM-A robot into mass production for multi-city deployment. The company is also developing two additional variants:

  • LM-T — designed for factory transport
  • LM-P — designed for personal mobility

Investor Group

The Series A round includes participation from:

  • Mercuria Investment (lead)
  • DRONE FUND
  • Suzuki Motor Corporation
  • Canal Ventures
  • Tama Shinkin Bank
  • Nabtesco Technology Ventures

Why It Matters

The round highlights continued investor interest in autonomous delivery infrastructure in Japan. LOMBY's partnership with Suzuki Motor and its existing deployments with major convenience store chains position it within the practical, near-term segment of sidewalk robotics — a category that has seen growing attention as labor constraints push retailers and logistics operators toward automation.

The involvement of Suzuki Motor Corporation as both a development partner and investor underscores the strategic alignment between established mobility manufacturers and emerging robotics platforms. Nabtesco Technology Ventures, the venture arm of a major motion control and robotics component manufacturer, adds further industrial validation.

What Comes Next

With mass production of the LM-A underway and multi-city deployment planned, LOMBY is transitioning from pilot operations to scaled commercial rollout. The development of the LM-T and LM-P variants signals a broader platform strategy that extends beyond convenience store delivery into factory logistics and personal mobility applications.

For observers tracking the last-mile delivery and service robotics space, LOMBY represents a notable example of a Japanese startup combining autonomous navigation, remote supervision, and manufacturing partnerships to address urban delivery challenges.
