Zeal is a payments technology startup founded in 2019 by Omar Ebeid and Belal Mohamed, with roots in Cairo and a London headquarters. It began as a customer-loyalty and digital-payments app and now provides value-added services for payment terminals: its SmartPOS Plugin adds customer recognition, card-linked loyalty, analytics and merchant-health monitoring to existing point-of-sale hardware without requiring merchants to replace their systems. Zeal integrates with terminal ecosystems including Ingenico, Network International, Verifone, PAX and SUNMI, and has been recognised by the Visa Everywhere Initiative, Juniper Research and the UK Fintech Awards. It raised a $4 million round in 2024 led by Raed Ventures and Cur8 Capital, and a $10 million round in September 2026 to expand across the Middle East, Europe and Africa.
