Winter Innovations is a Knoxville, Tennessee-based medical device company building orthopedic suturing technology, including EasyWhip, a patented and FDA 510(k)-cleared two-part needle that lets surgeons create whip and locking stitches for tendon and ligament repair across sports medicine and foot and ankle procedures. Co-founded by Lia Winter and Preston Dishner out of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, the company has since added the StitchStand graft-prep stand and an expanded EasyWhip product family, and reports more than 1,000 surgical cases to date. Its growth has been funded by angel and seed investors alongside non-dilutive grants including NSF SBIR awards.
