Vori is a San Francisco-based startup building an AI-powered operating system for independent grocery stores, integrating point-of-sale, inventory tracking, supplier invoice processing, dynamic shelf pricing, and purchase orders into a single platform. Founded in 2019 by third-generation grocer Brandon Hill with cofounders Robert Pinkerton and Tremaine Kirkman, the company targets the roughly 45,000 US supermarkets that operate outside the Walmart-and-Amazon orbit. Since launching its current product in January 2024, Vori has processed more than $500M in payments across 55 cities, with payment revenue accounting for 60-70% of its top line.
