UEL (Unmanned Exploration Laboratory) is a Seoul-based South Korean startup developing multiple classes of lunar rovers -- the two-wheeled SCARAB, four-wheeled HAETAE, and foldable GEOBUGI -- for lunar surface exploration and an eventual lunar resource economy. Incorporated in 2023 after research activity dating to 2016, the company has signed a payload agreement with Japan's ispace to fly a rover on the 2028 Mission 3 lunar lander and holds technology-transfer ties with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. It closed a ₩12.1B Pre-Series A in August 2026, backed by Korea Development Bank, IBK Venture Investment, and other institutional investors, to fund lunar-surface validation missions.
