UCANACT is a Utrecht-based neurotechnology startup developing a digital brain-computer interface that translates brain signals directly into computer actions and speech. A spin-off from UMC Utrecht with two decades of underlying BCI research behind it, it targets people with severe motor disabilities - such as those caused by motor neuron disease, stroke or trauma - who have lost the ability to speak. Its AI-powered software pairs with wearable or implantable neural devices and is designed for independent, at-home communication with minimal support from technicians or caregivers.
