THOR Therapeutics is a KAIST faculty startup founded in 2022 and based in Daejeon, South Korea, led by professor Minho Shong. It develops antibody therapeutics against cancer cachexia targeting the GDF15-GFRAL pathway, with lead candidate THOR-017, a GFRAL-blocking IgG1 monoclonal antibody intended to preserve appetite, muscle mass and physical function in cancer patients. Joint research with KAIST published in Science Advances in October 2026 showed the antibody restored food intake and improved weight and grip strength in mouse cachexia models.
