TerraBlaster is a US agtech startup, spun out of St. Louis deep-tech firm Impossible Sensing, that uses laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) — a technology first deployed on NASA Mars rovers — to map soil nutrients in real time. Its rugged sensors are dragged through the soil behind a tractor or ATV to generate lab-grade maps of pH, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at tractor speed, letting farmers apply fertilizer precisely and cut input waste. Founded by Jorge Heraud and Matt Colgan (both formerly of Blue River Technology and John Deere See & Spray), the company was previously known as SoilCode.
