SurfAce Cleantech is a Swiss deep-tech startup based at EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne that develops a patent-pending composite coating technology for compostable flexible packaging. Its coating strengthens bioplastic films so packaging can be around 30% thinner and more cost-competitive while remaining compostable. Founded in 2025 by CEO Frederic Mauch and CTO Saoirse McConnell, the company developed the technology in collaboration with EPFL.
