The Subvocal Company is a San Francisco hard-tech startup building Murmur, a discreet under-chin wearable that decodes silently mouthed speech into text and computer commands using muscle-sensing electrodes and real-time biosignal decoding, with no audible voice, minimal visible movement and no microphone or camera. It was founded in 2026 by Georgia Tech computer science students Aarush Yadav (CEO) and Arnav Kumar (CTO), who built their first prototype at the Stanford TreeHacks hackathon, and the company is part of the Y Combinator Fall 2026 batch. The team is turning its prototypes into a consumer product with early macOS integrations for Slack, Gmail, Calendar and Notes, and plans to open pre-orders in the coming months.
