Senticell is a Philadelphia, PA-based biotechnology company developing a new class of liquid biopsy diagnostics built on red blood cell (RBC)-bound nucleic acids. Its platform is exclusively licensed from the University of Pennsylvania, where research by scientific co-founder Nilam Mangalmurti showed that RBCs bind and retain disease-associated DNA and RNA, enabling detection of signals such as oncogenic driver mutations that plasma-based liquid biopsies can miss. Initially focused on oncology through prospective clinical studies at Penn Medicine, the company is also exploring infectious-disease applications such as rapid pathogen detection for sepsis and pneumonia.
