Rhea, also known as Rhea Soil Health Management, is a Kenyan agritech startup founded in 2022 by Priscilla Wakarera and Soinato Leboo that makes soil testing affordable and accessible for smallholder farmers. Its flagship RHEA AgriPad is a portable IoT device combining sensors and machine learning to deliver field-level soil diagnostics and fertilizer recommendations through SMS and WhatsApp, supported by a platform for soil fertility mapping and measurement, reporting and verification (MRV). The company runs a trained agronomist agent network across Kenyan counties and is building soil-performance data intended to unlock agricultural finance, insurance and carbon-market opportunities as it expands from Kenya into Tanzania.
