retoflow is a Kassel-based deep-tech company founded in 2021 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Energy Economics and Energy System Technology (IEE) and the University of Kassel. Its platform consolidates grid data held in disparate systems into a computable digital twin, letting utilities and municipal grid operators simulate future scenarios, detect bottlenecks early and plan the expansion of power, gas, heat and water networks in an integrated way. The founding team contributed to the open-source grid-modeling standards pandapower and pandapipes, and the company reports profitable operation for several fiscal years with a customer base of German municipal utilities plus its first international customers.
