Quintessent Secures $40M Series A Funding
Quintessent, a Santa Barbara, California-based startup developing photonic integrated circuits for AI data centers, has raised $40 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by Cycle Capital, with participation from Susquehanna International Group, Safar Partners, M Ventures, Sierra Ventures, Osage University Partners, Foothill Ventures, Hina Liberty Capital, Goldman Sachs XIG-Industry Ventures, InterVest, and Ciena.
The company specializes in quantum-dot laser and silicon-photonics based optical interconnects designed for AI/ML compute clusters. Spun out of UC Santa Barbara research, Quintessent partners with foundries such as Tower Semiconductor and IQE to scale production of its low-cost, high-reliability optical connectivity products.
Purpose of Funding
While specific use of funds was not disclosed, the Series A capital is expected to accelerate product development and manufacturing scale-up as demand for high-bandwidth optical interconnects grows in AI data centers.
