Pumpkinseed is a Palo Alto-based protein sequencing company developing deSIPHR, a nanophotonic chip platform that reads proteins de novo from molecular vibrations using high-throughput Raman spectroscopy. With over 100 million sensors per square centimeter fabricated via standard semiconductor processes, the platform identifies known and unknown proteins at single-molecule resolution — including post-translational modifications and non-canonical residues that mass-spectrometry tools miss. The company sells proteomic data to biopharma and biosecurity partners and is generating the high-resolution datasets that virtual cell models and AI-driven drug discovery require.
