Oshen is a Plymouth, UK-based ocean robotics company, founded in 2022 by Imperial College engineers Anahita Laverack and Ciaran Dowds, that builds and deploys constellations of small, solar- and wind-powered autonomous robots called C-Stars for persistent, wide-area ocean monitoring. The robots collect real-time ocean and weather data for customers including the US Navy, Royal Navy, NOAA and European meteorological agencies, supporting uses from hurricane forecasting to submarine and subsea-infrastructure surveillance. Oshen has scaled manufacturing from a handful of hand-built units to dozens produced every six weeks as demand from defense and scientific customers grows.
