Octin Health is a Minnesota medical-device startup developing the Elika Device, which is designed to maintain blood flow to the brain and body during aortic arch surgery and eliminate the need for deep hypothermic circulatory arrest, the 1950s-era technique of cooling the body and halting all circulation. Founded in 2024 by Mayo Clinic-trained cardiovascular surgeon Dr. Meghana Helder, the company plans to submit the device for FDA clearance in early 2027 and won the 2026 MN Cup grand prize.
