Its Nyquis Node installs at existing substations without a shutdown and analyzes voltage and current waveforms thousands of times per second with machine-learning models trained on simulated faults, surfacing developing hazards such as arcing, vegetation contact, and deteriorating connections that conventional overcurrent protection misses, while the same live data helps operators find headroom for new load. The San Francisco-based company was co-founded by CEO Daniel J. Hunter and CTO Steve A. Bukowski and serves electric cooperatives and utilities, with deployments in New Mexico.
