Newlight (Newlight Marine Technologies) is a maritime energy technology company based in Alameda, California, developing automated hydrogen-injection retrofit systems for large commercial vessels. Its AI-guided controller injects small amounts of hydrogen into existing marine diesel engines to improve combustion, cutting fuel use and emissions by more than 20 percent — performance validated over an 8,500-nautical-mile commercial voyage from Singapore to Ghana aboard a Lomar Shipping bulk carrier, where fuel consumption fell 24 percent and CO2 fell 28 percent. Founded by former Israeli Navy engineers Haran Cohen Hillel and Evyatar Cohen, the company holds regulatory approval from classification society RINA and has signed commercial agreements covering 12 vessels.
